Abstract
The article reveals the actual problem of our time, personal self-improvement in the context of training future teachers of higher education, which is fundamentally important for the scientific substantiation of the ways and means of effectively ensuring the quality of this process of professional training of a teacher. It is emphasized that the «soft qualities» of a person play a leading role in the process of personal self-improvement.
The importance of «soft skills» in the process of self-improvement of future teachers of higher education is revealed. The views of domestic and foreign scientists on
solving the problem of soft skills formation are generalized. The content of the main soft skills is determined in relation to pedagogical activities for personal selfimprovement of a teacher of a higher educational institution: complex multi-level solution of pedagogical problems; critical thinking as a professionally oriented type of thinking that contributes to the productivity of learning, etc.
